The Twill Sports Cap takes its inspiration from the original six panelled baseball cap. The origin of the sports cap can be traced back to the mid-19th century and began as a pure felted wool ‘beanie’ worn by blue-collar workers.

With the growing popularity of baseball in America, sportspeople adopted and modified this hat as a replacement to their straw versions that were itchy and uncomfortable. By 1860, a rounded-top cap with a long peak and a button on top was introduced, including eyelets for ventilation. Over time, the cap evolved to include a more extended and stiffer peak and the crown became more structured.
