spring 2021, hong kong, the new store opening at victoria park is the latest momentous milestone for kapok in hong kong.
the striking new store is situated at the busiest junction in fashion walk, causeway bay, a very prominent shopping area in town. the store features a double ceiling height display staircase and a bright white exterior textured plaster façade, an eye popping contrast to the multicolour surroundings and all the chaos happening on the street. it also echoes our founding flagship on sun street, wan chai.
bathed in natural sunlight, the 3150-square feet two-storey store is the largest kapok ever. reflecting the ever-changing world we live today, the theme of the store focuses on three pillar topics: wellness, sustainability and outdoors. in mid-february, the importance of the theme will be highlighted by « the gentleness project », the first special pop-up that introduces a series of new brands: dr ed, oto, bodha, nobra, ho karan, saint charles, spiritual gangster, aureus botanica, on the wild side to our fans.
among the best-selling brands such as common projects, maison labiche,, veja, O.N.S, you must create, doiy, g.h. bass, malin & goetz,...etc, this new flagship will also exclusively launch garbstore, henrik vibskov, suzie winkle, tach clothing, terre de mars, lola james harper and wonder valley in hong kong.
the design concept
kapok victoria park is a refreshing concept that focuses on visual transparency, functionality, and spatial clarity. pedestrians can see the interiors from both streets, experiencing the playful interiors even from afar. the white textured plaster façade is a subtle yet bold defining characteristic, making the store a memorable destination in this shopping mecca.
the interior features plywood joinery that carries european timber accents; signature iridescent chromatised steel and cement floor; they all uniting to create a casual and relaxed atmosphere, welcoming to all. the design concept remains minimal to accommodate flexibility in merchandise displays, aligning with kapok’s goal of being a store of many faces, a place for discovery and its refusal to confine itself to a static realm. the iridescent stairway creates a juxtaposition between the height of each step and the human scale, puncturing through the ground floor ceiling into the first floor. the display stairway doubles up as a jewellery closet on the ground floor and as a candle display bar on the first floor. this is also the fourth time for Collective Studio, the world famous architecture firm, and the retailer to join forces on new openings; the retail dialogue we start from wan chai carries on ...
last but not least, the opening of kapok victoria park kicks off the celebration of the 15th anniversary of kapok in 2021, a year that will surely be joyously eventful.
