Belenois Calypso in a few words

Belenois Calypso is one of the Pieridae. This family includes specimens that are generally medium-sized, with white, yellow or orange shades and are often marked with small dark spots. The family comprises of more than 1,000 species, including Pieris brassicae commonly known as the "Cabbage White", which can be observed in French gardens and meadows in spring.

The Belenois genus includes 29 different species that are widespread on the African continent. Adapted to the climatic conditions of the plains, it can also be observed in the dense tropical forests. Like the Belenois Aurota, these butterflies are known for their ability to migrate and form swarms of thousands of butterflies as they move about.

The Caper Peridia plant is central to the flourishing of this species providing both essential nourishment and protection.

Where does Belenois Calypso live?

Belenois Calypso can be observed from Tanzania to West Africa.
