The beginnings
Kapok opened its door in early 2006 as an antidote against shopping-malls boredom. The shop was hidden amongst garages and a giant banyan tree, behind Tin Haul temple.

In August 2008, we moved to San Francis Yard, in Wanchai’s Star Street area, a quiet and friendly street – just across from the local dai pa dong.

Our selection
The objective of Kapok is to showcase brands that combine craftsmanship and creativity. Too often, design is used to hide a product defects - and you might sometimes find some great products, but just wished they looked better! What we want is style and quality, no compromises.

We focus on showing products by young small companies, whose work is not available in Hong Kong. Kapok’s founder Arnault is a Frenchman settled down in Hong Kong since 1996, so the store can present a very through selection of European and Asian brands.

Our Special editions
Kapok regularly invites their favorite designers to create new products exclusively for the store. Recent additions include the all-black lip Mach 2000 watch, notebooks by Five and a Half and the forest green wallets by Maxx & Unicorn and a limited edition Moleskine designed by Singapore’s h55studio (who is also behind Kapok’s new logo).

The webshop
Following the requests of our customers from Taiwan, Singapore or Japan, we have decided to propose a selection of our favourite products to be sold online. New products will be added weekly.

To keep it simple, we will accept payments through paypal, and we have kept shipping fees to a minimum:

- free shipping for Hong Kong
- HK$60(US$7.74) for Asia
- HK$120 (US$15.48) for the rest of the world
- Free shipping for orders above HK$2,500 (US$322.56)
